The three Universities in Lucerne have long shared a good, collaborative relationship. Along with numerous collaborations in various fields, the following areas of cooperation are promoted as part of the project Campus Lucerne: Joint PhD Support funded by swissuniversities:
Joint PhD supervision
Campus Lucerne supports PhD projects, with doctoral students shared by senior researchers at the University of Lucerne and HSLU or PHLU, respectively. The joint supervision generates added scientific value for doctoral students as well as the supervisors by combining different university traditions. Campus Lucerne actively promotes the creation of appropriate framework conditions.
Specific support is provided on a case-by-case basis and can take on several forms as well as include financial compensations for the supervision. The coordinators of the three universities are more than happy to inform you about possibilities and further procedure.
Research Colloquia Economics
In the field of economics, Campus Lucerne supports joint research colloquia of the faculty of economics at the University of Lucerne and the department of economics of the Lucerne University of applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). The Lucerne Research Seminar in Economics and Management offers doctoral students and professors of both universities the opportunity for exchanging ideas with experts who examine a topic from the perspective of their respective field of expertise.
Until now the joint support was focused on colloquia in the field of economics. The model, however, can be also used in other fields, as long as researchers from the University of Lucerne, the Lucerne University of Teacher Education (PHLU) and the Lucerne University of applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) can identify common subject areas for it. Interested parties can contact the coordinators of their university regarding further questions.
Courses
The available courses by Campus Lucerne are directed at doctoral students, lecturers and employees of the University of Lucerne, the Lucerne University of Teacher Education (PHLU) and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). It supports researchers and lectures of all three Universities in developing and expanding their research skills. The broad range of available courses includes a variety of education courses on general methodological skills as well as generic research skills and specific research-related subject areas. Courses are conducted by lectures from the three Universities as well as internationally renowned experts.
Due to the funding of swissuniversities and the Universities of Lucerne these Campus Lucerne courses are free of charge for employees of the universities up to 2024
